Adopting a Great Dane is a meaningful commitment, and we want you to feel informed and supported every step of the way. Below, you’ll find important information about our adoption process and what to expect as you prepare to bring a Dane into your life.

Bringing a Great Dane into your life can feel like a big decision, and that’s okay. You don’t need to have all the answers before you begin. Our goal is to make sure both you and the Dane are set up for success, and we’ll walk alongside you every step of the way.

Our Adoption Philosophy
We follow the wisdom and experience of Georgia Hymmen of Daynakin Great Danes. Her approach helps guide how we care for our Danes and how we support families throughout the adoption journey — with honesty, education, and compassion at the center.
Begin the Adoption Process
When you’re ready, the next step is to review our adoption process and expectations. This will give you a clear understanding of what’s involved and help you decide if adoption is the right fit for you at this time.
Submit an Adoption Application
If you believe a Great Dane may be the right fit for your home, we invite you to complete the adoption application below to begin your journey.
After we receive your application, we'll check your references and arrange a home visit. Our Shelter Manager will contact you for an interview.
Adoption Fees
- Dogs 0-12 months:
$600 (includes application fee)
- Dogs 1-7 years: $600 (includes application fee)
- Dogs 8+ years: $500 (includes application fee)
Requirements
- Residence:
WA.
- Children:
Homes with children over the age of 8 only.
- Pets:
No intact pets unless for valid reasons.
- Home:
Provide a loving indoor home, quality food, and routine medical care.
- Fencing: Required for adopting a deaf Dane.
Post-Adoption
- Follow-up:
Expect follow-up calls about your new dog.
- Obedience Class: Required as per the adoption contract.
Our Danes
All our Great Danes are:
- Spayed or neutered
- Heartworm tested and treated
- Up-to-date on vaccinations
- Temperament evaluated in foster homes
- Micro-chipped
